Where Do Germs Hide?

Where Do Germs Hide?

Many germs we can live with, but there are many more that can make us sick. We want to spend a little time talking about where germs live. When we think of germs and where they hide there are a few places that pop right up. Toilets, door handles, and light switches are obvious to most people.  Viruses are one of the most common ways we humans pick up and pass along an illness.

Since we pass on germs from person to person by coughing, sneezing, or even just talking it is easy to see why germs can end up on surfaces that we come in to contact with.

What is your best defense when it comes to avoiding viruses?

  • Don’t touch your face, especially your mouth, nose or eyes
  • Wash your hands, for at least 30 seconds under warm water and use soap
  • Disinfect surfaces you regularly touch
  • Don’t touch surfaces that other people commonly touch with their hands.

A quick list of places that germs love to hangout:

  • Cabinets
  • Door handles
  • Electronics
  • Phones
  • Keyboards and your Mouse
  • Remote controls
  • Toys
  • And that cookie your 4-year-old niece just handed you.

Keeping yourself and your family healthy should be on your to-do list.  Spend a little time identifying areas in your home that are high touch zones and take a little more time disinfecting them. Hopefully, this message will help you identify some places and things you can do to help prevent the spread of viruses.
